LOGISTICS/MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Position Summary:

Responsible for directing, scheduling and controlling all plant engineering/maintenance functions in order to obtain optimum efficiencies from the equipment, utilities and overall functions.

Prioritize the distribution centers (DC's) needs, develop and implement a 3-year capital plan.

Include capital appropriation requests, develop project schedules and work teams, write contracts, coordinate project activities, control project funds and implement startup/training procedures as necessary.

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


* Facilitative coaching style of management and pursues non-directed activities in dealing with plant opportunities.


* 5-10 years of related experience in the food industry dealing with: project management, preventative maintenance administration, guiding a maintenance workforce, establishing and operating to a budget, utility utilization, EPA and OSHA requirements, knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), writing and justification of projects.


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


* Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs with advanced skills in Excel.


* Experience using AutoCad.



* Provide engineering counsel and leadership at the DC level.


* Evaluate and develop engineering projects for the facility.


* Recommend equipment/processing system modifications and/or replacement to improve facility performance.


* Keep current on technology as it pertains to the facility's operation.


* Prepare and submit engineering reports as necessary.


* Establish and administer an effective predictive/preventative maintenance program, work order procedures and an adequate parts inventory.


* Train maintenance/engineering associates and determine appropriate training and development needs.


* Develop and oversee department budget.


* Create and maintain appropriate engineering records, including equipment records and manuals, drawings and diagrams, inspection reports and legal records as required by law.


* Monitor and control energy consumption and execute plans which promote effective energy usage.


* Partner with outside agencies, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), etc., to insure plant compliance with current regulations.
