Speech Therapist

Schedule: Part time, 32 hours per week, 8:30am - 5:00pm, 4 days per week (days of the week to be determined).

No weekends or holidays.

This position provides direct speech therapy services in the outpatient, inpatient, and home care setting.

Pediatric treatment experience preferred but not mandatory.

The Speech Therapist performs clinical functions and some supervision in accordance with hospital and departmental standards and policies.

Interpret referrals Communicate with patients to evaluate their levels of speech or language difficulty Determine the extent of communication problems by having a patient complete basic reading and vocalizing tasks or by giving standardized tests Identify treatment options Create and carry out an individualized treatment plans Teach patients how to make sounds and improve their voices Teach alternative communication methods, such as sign language, to patients with little or no speech capability Work with patients to improve their ability to read and write correctly Work with patients to evaluate, develop, and strengthen the muscles used to swallow Performs modified barium swallow studies Counsel patients and families on how to cope with communication disorders Possesses excellent verbal, written, and listening skills in communication with physicians, nurses, and other professionals in matters related to patient care Completes documentation accurately, completely, and timely Documentation meets professional, legal, and regulatory standards
