Salary: $67,500
Schedule: Mon- Fri 8:00AM-5:00PM
Location:2312 West Cucharras, Colorado Springs, CO

 

OBJECTIVE:

Oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the Goodwill Vehicle Maintenance Department, including management of the partnership with the Pikes Peak State College Diesel Mechanic Training Program.

Provide leadership and supervision to maintenance staff, including mechanics, tool clerks, and schedulers.

Manage departmental financial performance, including budget oversight, expense control, and profit and loss accountability.

Ensure all Goodwill fleet vehicles, as well as vehicles maintained for external organizations, are serviced and repaired to meet operational, safety, and regulatory standards, maximizing reliability and minimizing downtime.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:


* Advise and counsel subordinates on matters relating to work requirements and personnel problems in the department.  Perform medium and light equipment repair.


* Provide final safety check of all vehicles serviced in the department.


* Organize vehicle records and follow up on vehicle maintenance requirements.  Plan work projects by day, week, month, and year.  Work closely with all customers to ensure that proper priorities are established.


* Keep track of repair parts/supplies and reorder when needed.

     


* Compare cost of repairs and or repair parts to ensure the greatest savings for Goodwill.


* Sign for incoming parts, ensuring that orders received are   correct and complete.


* Prepare and manage the vehicle maintenance portion of the annual budget.


* Ensure that disabled vehicles are retrieved and taken to the Goodwill maintenance shop for repairs.


* Maintain snow removal equipment.


* Ability to work with persons with disabilities.   


* Must have strong work ethic, be a self-starter, problem-solver, and team player. 


* Ability to understand and follow all Goodwill safety standards and guidelines, and to read, comprehend, and follow Goodwill Employee Handbook, departmental manuals, and all numbered or supplemental memorandums.


* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master Mechanic or equivalent.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.  Trade school certificate preferred.  

• At least Four years in vehicle maintenance.  Two years heavy truck maintenance.  Two years’ experience trouble shooting electrical and mechanical problems.

• Working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine repair, and vehicle maintenance scheduling and record keeping.  Must possess a Colorado Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and must have a current medical examination card. 

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
