Summary: The Outreach Specialist supports families of children with emotional or behavioral challenges by providing information, referrals, advocacy, and guidance.

The role requires lived experience as a caregiver of a child with mental health needs and familiarity with systems like education, juvenile justice, and child welfare.

Responsibilities include attending meetings to support families, coordinating services, documenting interactions in the electronic record, conducting community outreach, and delivering trainings both in-person and virtually.

The position requires strong communication, public speaking, organizational skills, and adherence to HIPAA.

Reliable transportation is required, and CFSS certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

This position requires reliable internet.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for fulfilling all duties related to emergency preparedness, evacuation, and client safety, including support of individuals who may not be capable of self-preservation, in accordance with TN Voices Employee Policies and TN State Department regulations and CARF Standards.

Provide information, referrals, advocacy, and support to families of children with emotional/behavioral problems.

Attend family team meetings and other system-related meetings (education, juvenile justice, child welfare) to support parents and promote cooperation.

Support coordination of services for children with SED and their families through role modeling and system-of-care principles.

Maintain parent and professional documentation in the Electronic Client Record (ECR).

Comply with HIPAA.

Provide community trainings and presentations related to mental health, agency programs, advocacy, education, and parenting curricula.

Develop, recruit for, and provide ongoing assistance, consultation, training, and outreach for groups of parents, professionals, and community members.

Maintain a strong community presence as an agency representative.

Conduct outreach to community partners for referrals and needed services.

Complete monthly reporting and documentation in a timely manner.

Attend assigned meetings, including mental health planning councils, Community Advisory Boards, and collaborative agency meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.

Certified Family Support Specialist preferred.
