About the Role
Schneider Electric is expanding its portfolio of outdoor package substation solutions to support customers across global markets.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Package Substation Solutions team to play a key role in the design and delivery of reliable and field-proven substation solutions.

The role offers the opportunity to work on international projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Specific projects initially in India and Australia working directly with the UK technical expert and product owner for Package Substations.
Role Purpose
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end mechanical design of package substations and outdoor enclosure & work closely with the global PSS OTL.

The role focuses on delivering robust, manufacturable, and compliant solutions that meet customer requirements while ensuring structural integrity, operational safety, ease of installation, and cost-effective fabrication.

The successful candidate will contribute to both project execution and continuous product improvement by leveraging existing designs and developing new package substation platforms for global applications.
Key Responsibilities


* Develop detailed 3D models and assemblies for package substations, enclosures, and associated equipment using Creo.


* Create efficient equipment layouts that optimise accessibility, maintainability, ventilation, safety clearances, and installation requirements.


* Adapt and enhance existing package substation designs to improve speed, quality, and standardisation.


* Design new package substation structures and enclosure solutions based on customer-specific technical requirements.


* Specify structural materials, sheet metal components, steel grades, coatings, and corrosion protection systems.


* Generate manufacturing-ready engineering drawings incorporating GD&T principles and applicable fabrication standards.


* Prepare technical documentation and engineering data packages for seismic, vibration, and finite element analysis activities.


* Support manufacturing, sourcing, and project teams during design reviews and product industrialisation activities.


* Collaborate with global engineering teams across India, the UK, and Australia to deliver customer projects on schedule and to quality standards.

Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on design standardisation, cost optimisation, and product reliability
