Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre Op Testing

Professional registered nurse gives direct and indirect specialized nursing care to patients while preparing for intra-operative experience.

The nurse in the pre-op role coordinates the care of the patient and is the patient advocate throughout the pre-operative experience.

Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

One year med/surgical experience preferred

Physical Requirements


* Requires walking and standing during most of the time on duty.


* Frequent reaching, handling of equipment and supplies.


* Speaking and hearing essential for relaying of information, receiving doctors orders.


* Visual acuity required to work with records and equipment.


* Frequently lifting 30-50 pounds/ repositioning of patients.


* Are to push stretchers to the OR room with patients in attendance to facilitate efficient time management.


* Works beyond scheduled tour of duty in an emergency.


* Maintains a state of health adequate to perform the duties of the job.


* Possible contact to moving mechanical parts.


* Required to make decisions and concentrate - continuously.


* Exposure to temperature extremes - moderate.


* Work environment lighting and noise - varies.


* Exposed to stressful and traumatic situations.


* Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals - varies.
