Embedded AI Firmware Co-Op
Schneider Electric is looking for an Embededed AI Firmware Engineer Co-Op to join our team in January 2027 in Andover, MA.
This position will last 6-8 months.
We are looking for a positive, self-motivated, passionate individual with a strong desire to work in an exciting, fast-paced design environment to help us develop next generation technologies.
This individual will be able to grow with Fortune 500 experience, and work in the following areas:
What will you do?
* Expand and modify existing firmware to meet design requirements
* Port and test Machine learning frameworks into an embedded C platform
* Perform development (coding and/or testing) of a part of an embedded software solution whose specification and architecture are defined.
* Participate in firmware design reviews with peers to gain knowledge on the best practices.
* Work with the formal verification team to define, document, analyze, perform and interpret developmental tests for new and/or modified products.
* Firmware development using Integrated Development Environment (IDEs).
* Facilitate the generation of prototypes for testing.
* Contribute to verification and validation test plans including test method and acceptance criteria.
* Interpretation of test results and other data.
Ability to synthesize data into technical communication for effective written and oral presentation.
* Work and contribute as part of an agile development team.
What would make you successful?
* Pursuing a Bachelors Degree (upperclassman preferred) or a Masters Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
* Familiarity with AI concepts.
Understanding of AI frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, Tiny ML, or ONNX.
* Capability to examine large data sets and develop machine learning models
* Understanding of computer architectures and Software design including UML 2.0
* Experience in designing Embedded Systems with languages like C/C++.
* Understanding of Real-Time Operating System like FreeRTOS
* Familiarity with ARM, STM32 microprocessors including programming microprocessor peripherals such as ADC, I2C, SPI, and CAN
* Proficiency in Python programming and R language
* Proficiency in laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
* Understanding or interest with Agile development environment including CI/CD pipelines
