TRANSPORTATION OPERATOR
POSITION TITLE: Transit Operator CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt DEPARTMENT: TransportationSUPERVISOR: Transit Operations Supervisor GRADE: NE5 Position Summary: Transit Operator operates a transit van/shuttle bus for the purpose of providing transportation between Pueblo villages, Tribal Administration complex, other Pueblo entities, Five Sandoval, and the Sandoval/US 550 station for the NM Rail Runner Express.
Provides regularly scheduled service and responds to special needs requests on an as need basis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: · Responsible for operating on a set schedule, ensuring connections to outside transit systems are made in a timely manner · Promote outstanding service to Santa Ana Tribal · Must always maintain a professional image for customers · maintain a good working relationship with co-workers · Must provide a positive attitude towards the Manger/Supervisor and the Company · Members and general public.
· Driver will be responsible for the safety of the passengers by ensuring they are seated.
· Driver will also assist any elderly or handicapped person on entering and exiting the vehicle, operate wheelchair lift, and make sure wheelchairs are properly secured · Maintain good personal hygiene · Ensure that No Smoking occurs in the van · It is the driver's responsibility to inspect the van for damage, tire inflation and pressure, fuel and other fluid levels, and cleanliness prior to and after their shift.
Windows and mirrors (inside and out) are to be kept clean.
Floor surfaces are to be kept free of any obstructions and seating surfaces are to be inspected for wear and/or damage.
Any damage to the vehicle must be reported to a supervisor prior to and after all shifts to promote safe driving · Upon leaving the van for breaks, the driver must notify the supervisor and make sure the van is secured.
At no time is the van to be left running and unattended · Any items left in the van must be collected and held in a lost and found located in the supervisor's office · Shuttle drivers will report to the Transportation Specialist or other designated person · The driver is responsible for making sure that the vehicle is locked and secured at the end of their shift · Complete safety inspections, preventive maintenance, and other logs and forms · Ensure the safety and security of all riders · Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED; employee must have and maintain or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire, a New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B with "P" endorsement and be insurable under the Pueblo's insurance; must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check.
