Staff Archaeologist II

Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc.(CRA) is seeking qualified candidates to join our Louisiana office, and we are currently accepting applications forStaff Archaeologist.

Our Louisiana office is located in Shreveport, in the heart of the Ark-La-Tex region and was established in 2010 to support clients in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

New mothers are eligible for a short term disability benefit that is paid by the company;Professional development stipend ($1,000 per year);Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) annual renewal payment for Affiliated status Job Description and Responsibilities: Responsible for assigned Phase I (inventory-level) survey and, to a lesser extent, Phase II (National Register evaluation) and Phase III excavation projects.

This may involve (1) conducting pre-field research, (2) directing fieldwork and laboratory analyses, and (3) preparing technical reports.Assist the Principal Investigator in making site-specific recommendations for additional or future work and in determining or estimating the nature, scope, and level of effort for fieldwork.Supervise project field personnel, including training, assigning tasks, monitoring accuracy and efficiency.Responsible for project logistic arrangements, enforcing company policies/procedures and following project guidelines for data collection, documentation, and reporting.Supervises survey/excavation of project areas for evidence of archaeological remains, determines locations of sites and records them on appropriate project maps, identifies, and implements appropriate methods for the recovery of important data following state guidelines.Responsible for organizing and analyzing project data (pre-field research, the results of fieldwork, conducting artifact and data analyses, drafting site maps), and producing appropriate technical reports.Responsible for maintaining field equipment and supplies.Responsible for driving and seeing that company vehicles receive routine maintenance.Track project hours in order to stay within established schedule and budgets and advise administrative staff of potential overages.Monitor safety in the office and on job sites.May assist in proposal writing and budget preparation.
