Heavy Highway Bridge Superintendent
Southland Construction, Inc.
is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway Bridge Superintendent to lead field operations on bridge and heavy highway construction projects throughout Central Florida.
Southland Construction has been building in Florida since 1977 and performs vertical, heavy highway, and utility construction for public and private clients.
We are looking for a hands-on construction leader with strong bridge experience who can manage crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, safety, quality, and production.
What You'll Do Supervise and coordinate daily bridge and heavy highway construction activities.
Lead field crews, subcontractors, and construction personnel.
Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and daily work activities.
Coordinate bridge construction from mobilization through completion.
Read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction schedules.
Coordinate pile driving, concrete, reinforcing steel, formwork, foundations, caps, columns, abutments, bridge decks, and related construction activities.
Monitor production, schedule, quality, and jobsite progress.
Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, engineers, survey personnel, inspectors, subcontractors, and owners.
Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, FDOT requirements, and company standards.
Coordinate MOT and traffic-control activities as required.
Identify field issues and work with the project team to develop solutions.
Maintain daily reports, production records, and other required documentation.
Coordinate material deliveries and heavy equipment needs.
Conduct and participate in daily safety meetings and enforce jobsite safety requirements.
Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite.
Assist with project inspections, punch lists, and closeout activities.
What We're Looking For 5+ years of bridge/heavy highway construction supervision experience.
Experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, Foreman, or Lead Supervisor on bridge or heavy civil projects.
Strong knowledge of bridge construction methods and sequencing.
Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple crews and subcontractors.
Ability to identify problems and make practical field decisions.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Experience FDOT construction experience New bridge construction and/or bridge rehabilitation Pile driving Structural concrete Reinforcing steel and formwork Bridge decks Roadway and drainage construction MOT/traffic control Public roadway and transportation projects OSHA 30-hour certification MOT certification Construction management software Working Conditions This is a hands-on field position.
