Student Records Data Analyst

The Student Records Data Analyst supports the accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and effective use of student information.
The position performs data analysis, data manipulation, data cleanup, reporting, and system-integration support for the Registrar's Office.
This role applies institutional policies and student-records requirements, independently investigates data issues, and develops reliable enrollment and compliance reports for authorized university users.
Essential Job Duties Student Records Data Management Maintain accurate student records across university systems.
Identify and correct incomplete, inconsistent, or duplicate data.
Apply academic policies when processing student records.
Analysis and Reporting Create and validate recurring enrollment reports.
Prepare student records and compliance reports for authorized users.
Review reports to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
Document report definitions, data sources, and procedures.
Systems and Integrations Support integrations between the student information system and other systems.
Test system changes, reports, and data processes.
Document test results and communicate identified issues.
Registrar and Student Compliance Support Support registration, enrollment, transcript, and student records processes.
Prepare student records for audits and required submissions.
Protect confidential student information in accordance with FERPA.
Maintain current knowledge of records practices and university systems.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements Required Christian worldview consistent with SBU's mission and the Baptist Faith & Message (2000).
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience and certifications.
Experience using databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
Ability to analyze, validate, and clean data accurately.
Ability to solve problems independently and exercise sound judgment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Commitment to confidentiality and FERPA compliance.
Ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical colleagues.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Experience working in a higher education environment.
Work Environment Professional office setting with frequent computer use.
This position is non-exempt and paid hourly.
Occasional schedule adjustments may be required for reporting or registration deadlines.
Physical Abilities Ability to perform prolonged computer and desk work.
Ability to communicate regularly in verbal and written formats.
Ability to use computers and standard office equipment.
Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 20 pounds.
