Business Office Clerk

BUSINESS OFFICE CLERK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8am to 4:30pm, No holidays, or weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY: Submits accurate insurance claims and performs timely follow up on unpaid claims to secure prompt and accurate payment for Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Answer patient questions regarding their insurance coverage and payment when needed.

Prompt follow up on any claim denials to assure meeting timelines for filing appeals for payment.

Assist in Central Registration as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Identifies insurance claims with errors and initiates correction of the errorsEvaluates unpaid insurance claims and initiates follow up of those outstanding claimsResolves accounts out of balanceAssists patients with questions on their accountsResearch accounts thoroughly before refunding payments to insurance or patientsOrganizes work so as to meet timely filing guidelines with insurances and insurance appeal timelinesAssists in identifying registration, coding or billing issues that occur repeatedly to help improve processes and payment timelines
