NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center is seeking a dedicated Infection Control-Restorative Nurse to join our nursing team.
This full-time position combines infection prevention and control responsibilities with support of the center's restorative nursing program.
The Infection Control-Restorative Nurse plays an important role in promoting safe clinical practices, maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting nursing partners, and helping patients maintain or improve their highest practical level of function and independence.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, organization, leadership, communication, and a commitment to quality patient care.
Position Responsibilities Infection Prevention & Control
* Educate center partners regarding infection prevention and control (IPC) practices as directed by nursing leadership.
* Provide updates and education to center partners regarding changes to IPC practices, policies, and procedures.
* Monitor infection prevention practices throughout the center and help ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
* Report infections, outbreaks, and cluster illnesses to appropriate governing or regulatory agencies when required, including the Department of Health, NHSN, CDC, and other applicable agencies.
* Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities related to infection prevention and control.
* Monitor practices related to healthcare-associated infections, personal protective equipment, isolation precautions, hand hygiene, and other infection prevention measures.
* Conduct initial and ongoing fit testing for center partners.
* Maintain appropriate documentation related to fit testing, IPC education, training, and survey preparedness.
* Protect partner privacy regarding medical evaluations associated with fit testing and other infection prevention procedures.
* Maintain open communication with patients and families regarding infection prevention practices and provide opportunities for participation in care decisions.
* Monitor nursing units to help ensure appropriate nursing care and infection prevention practices are being followed.
* Assist with medications and treatments as needed, including IV fluids and IV medications when within scope of practice.
* Assist with patient admissions as needed.
* Assist with the orientation of newly hired nursing partners regarding infection prevention and control practices.
* Promote and protect the dignity, privacy, and physical safety of each patient.
