The Maintenance Process Flow Leader directs Smelting Maintenance Supervisors and bargaining-unit employees.
This role aligns maintenance activities with plant and departmental priorities for EHS, cost, the Alcoa Business System (ABS), Asset Management (REX), quality, customer satisfaction, and labor relations.
The Flow Leader owns the department’s training plan, ensures employees meet safety and quality standards, and guides supervisors in completing maintenance schedules.
The role also implements plans developed by the maintenance organization while upholding Alcoa’s priorities and values.
About the Role:
* Prioritize employee safety by supporting, promoting, and enforcing all EHS guidelines and practices.
* Use Human Performance (HP) tools and promote environmental values
* Ensure there is a robust training system in place that lines up with our HP and ABS principles.
* Ensure that all employees are performing work according to the correct safety standards and quality procedures (all SSOPs and SPL are being followed) via audits
* Participate in any labor relations issues within the maintenance department including the grievance and discipline processes.
* Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and labor hours while driving improvements in cost, productivity, volume, and other key performance measures.
* Maintain and foster positive employee relations and communications
* Execute the maintenance schedule in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve efficiency.
* Drive continuous improvement by evaluating new ideas and approaches to reduce maintenance costs.
* Manage direct reports’ performance, provide ongoing mentorship, and support continuous skill development.
* Serve as the Maintenance Manager’s backup when needed.
* Build strong partnerships and maintain regular communication between maintenance and production teams.
* Assist in developing maintenance budgets and tactical plans to meet Massena’s objectives for the department.
* Guide direct reports on policies and procedures, address employee suggestions and work-related concerns, and manage all aspects of their performance in accordance with established standards.
* Oversee maintenance planning and computerized records for equipment history, costs, preventive maintenance, lubrication schedules, spare parts, and other asset data.
* Lead the maintenance reliability process and advise reliability engineering teams.
