Engineering and Maintenance Superintendent

Summary:

The Engineering & Maintenance Superintendent provides leadership for the facility’s Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering functions.

The position is responsible for safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations through effective management of maintenance, engineering, equipment reliability, tooling, controls, automation, facilities, capital projects, and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong manufacturing-floor presence and the ability to make timely technical and business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:


* Lead, develop, mentor, and retain Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, Controls, and other technical personnel.


* Establish goals, priorities, performance expectations, staffing, training, and succession plans.


* Maintain a strong floor presence and provide technical leadership during production issues and equipment failures.


* Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs based on equipment criticality, risk, and performance.


* Oversee troubleshooting, repairs, installations, upgrades, commissioning, and equipment reliability.


* Monitor uptime, downtime, PM compliance, work orders, maintenance costs, and other KPIs.


* Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures and recurring problems.


* Ensure effective use of the CMMS and accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and critical spare-parts inventories.


* Provide technical direction for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, automation, and facility systems.

Engineering & Continuous Improvement


* Lead manufacturing engineering activities supporting safety, quality, productivity, cost, and manufacturability.


* Improve manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, automation, controls, and production methods.


* Analyze production and process data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.


* Support machining, die casting, inspection/fixturing, finishing, assembly, tooling, and automated processes.


* Lead or support Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving activities.


* Coordinate engineering changes, technical documentation, equipment suppliers, integrators, contractors, and Corporate Engineering.


* Evaluate and implement new technologies and automation to improve plant capability and performance.

Capital Projects


* Lead capital and major engineering projects from concept through completion.


* Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and ROI justification.


* Coordinate suppliers, contractors, Corporate Engineering, and internal departments.


* Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to specifications.


* Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and startup.
