Summary

Performs a variety of high-risk obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures using the established AIUM protocols with moderate degree of individual judgment based on the clinical circumstances and patient conditions.

Performs clinical assessment, diagnostic sonography examinations, and synthesizes information with patient's medical history.

Job Duties


* Records anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.


* Maintains electronic patient charts and records to processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the sonogram.


* Maintains patient information in the ultrasound documentation/reporting system, image storage system, and EMR.

Prepares preliminary reports as requested by the physician.


* Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.


* Selects appropriate transducers and adjusts equipment to optimize the images utilizing the available applications and options on the ultrasound machine, based on fetal position, anatomy, and depth of field.


* Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action when possible.


* Explains medical studies and procedures to patients so they are well informed regarding the examination.
