POSITION OVERVIEW: Y Leaders Program positions are responsible for fostering a sense of belonging in campers, providing opportunities for campers to feel achievement, and helping campers build healthy positive relationships.

JOB LOCATION:Boone, IA WAGE: $57.14-$64.29/day; Y Camp also provides summer staff with on-site housing, meals, free onsite laundry facilities, fiber optic internet connection, paid training and certification opportunities SUMMER CAMP:June 2nd - August 21, 2027 - Onsite housing is a requirement for all positions.

SUMMER STAFF OPPORTUNITIES: Leader (Camp Counselors)Program Coordinators: Aquatics Program Coordinator, Ranch (Horse) Program Coordinator, Ranch (Horse) AssistantSupport Roles: Office Staff; Multi- Media Specialist; Registered Nurse; Nurse Assistant; Wellness Manager, Behavioral Support Specialist; Kitchen Staff; Housekeeping; MaintenanceLeadership Development Program Coordinators (previous experience preferred)Summer Camp Leadership: Group Camping Program Manager, Staff Supervisor, Program Supervisors, Age Group Coordinators, Program Specialist (previous experience preferred) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Create and maintain a safe environment both physically and emotionally for campers and others at Y Camp.

Build meaningful relationships with campers, volunteers, parents, co-workers, and others along with being a role model for campers and peers.

Contribute to the overall camp experience by actively participating in camp programs, activities, events and daily operations as appropriate to the role.

Actively supervises groups of campers and maintains appropriate child to staff ratios.

Depending on the assigned role, may organize and lead a variety of small and large group camp activities both independently and with a staff team, such as crafts, nature, songs, games, nature walks, swimming.

Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures including emergency and safety procedures.

Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and camper documentation.

Complete required documentation and communication accurately and in a timely manner, including incident reports, program records or other documentation as required by the position.

Promote Y membership and participation in the Des Moines YMCA Camp programs, services and events, Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
