Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will:


* Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.


* Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to help residents improve functional abilities and independence.


* Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and other functional tasks.


* Monitor resident progress and communicate changes to the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team.


* Maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation, including daily notes and progress reports.


* Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team regarding resident goals, progress, care planning, and discharge planning.


* Educate residents, families, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, exercises, adaptive strategies, and safety.


* Assist with training restorative aides and provide support to nursing staff as appropriate.


* Establish positive relationships with residents and families while advocating for their rehabilitation goals.
