Patient Access Representative
Position Summary: The Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the CHC/SEIA clinic.
This role is responsible for greeting patients, verifying insurance and personal information, scheduling appointments, collecting payments, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
The representative plays a critical role in maintaining efficient clinic operations and delivering excellent customer service.
Essential Functions / Duties: Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.Register patients accurately and efficiently, verifying demographic and insurance information.Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the clinics electronic health record (EHR) system.Ensure required patient forms are completed / signed, including Sliding Fee applications.Scan patient registration forms properly into the electronic practice management system.Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances; provide receipts and maintain accurate records.Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate departments.Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documentation.Complete Medicaid verifications for applicable next-day appointments.Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow and communication.Monitor and manage the waiting area to ensure a clean and organized environment.Responsible for managing Medicaid, Medicare, and MCO attribution lists to ensure patients are scheduled with a primary care provider.Ensure end-of-day daily procedures are completed prior to departing each day.Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent, requiredOne (1) year certificate from college or technical school, preferredKnowledge of medical terminology, preferred Experience: Three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or trainingEquivalent combination of education and experience
