Multi-Family Underwriter II
Position Summary: This non-exempt, non-supervisory position serves as the advanced technical level underwriter within Multi-Family.
The position independently underwrites complex or non-routine multi-family transactions; analyzes credit, property, income, collateral, and legal documentation; and recommends action on loan requests.
The position provides technical assistance to other underwriting staff and regularly uses MITAS, the Corporation's official loan information system, and MURF (Multi-Family Underwriter Review Findings), the working underwriting repository used to document reviews and retain underwriting records.
Reports to: MULTI-FAMILY LENDING MANAGER or DESIGNEE OVERVIEW Within the Mortgage Operations Department, the Multi-Family Underwriter II serves as the advanced technical underwriting classification and performs complex or non-routine underwriting assignments with limited supervision.
The position exercises substantial independent judgment in applying AHFC requirements, serves as a technical resource to other underwriting staff, and may assist management with special projects, program development, and complex underwriting matters.
The position is expected to ensure accurate, complete, and timely loan information in MITAS and to maintain underwriting documentation in MURF in accordance with established file structures and records-retention requirements.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Under the Multi-Family Loan Purchase Program, reviews loan submission requests, including credit, income, collateral, and appraisal analysis.
Analyzes the loan request and recommends acceptance or denial based on established AHFC criteria.
Meticulously evaluates file submissions.
Under Direct Lending programs, processes and underwrites multi-family, congregate, special needs, senior housing, and condominium association loan applications from receipt of the application through closing.
Reviews applicable financial, credit, property, legal, and collateral documentation and recommends action based on established AHFC criteria.
Performs high level attention to detail.
Enters, reviews, and maintains loan information in MITAS, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and consistent with approved loan terms and supporting documentation.
Routinely reconciles entries to assure accuracy.
Uses MURF as the working platform for underwriting reviews; uploads, organizes, and maintains underwriting documentation in accordance with established file structures, naming conventions, and records-retention requirements so that the underwriting record remains complete and accessible.
Maintains complete accuracy within the database.
Prepares underwriting recommendations, reports, correspondence, and supporting analyses.
Responds to inquiries from lenders, borrowers, housing providers, and other stakeholders regarding AHFC multi-family lending programs and underwriting requirements.
May present underwriting recommendations to Department or Executive Loan Committees, as assigned.
