NHC HealthCare Oakwood is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Activities Assistant to join our team on a part-time, every-other-weekend schedule.

The Activities Assistant helps provide meaningful recreational opportunities designed to meet the physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients and residents while creating an atmosphere of fun, engagement, and enjoyment.

The ideal candidate is mature, self-motivated, dependable, and has a genuine passion for working with seniors.
Position Responsibilities
• Assist and support the Life Enrichment/Recreation Director in identifying each patient or resident's individual interests, preferences, and activity needs.

• Assist with planning and providing therapeutic and recreational programs designed to meet individual needs.

• Provide activities that support the physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of patients and residents.

• Participate in individualized one-on-one activities with patients and residents as appropriate.

• Encourage participation and help create an engaging, positive, and enjoyable environment.

• Build positive relationships with patients, residents, families, community members, and NHC partners.

• Assist with maintaining positive community and public relations.

• Support the Life Enrichment/Recreation Director with departmental programs, events, and weekend activities.

• Follow NHC standards, policies, procedures, and the Better Way culture.

• Maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive approach when working with patients, residents, families, coworkers, and leadership.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.

• Ability and desire to work with elderly patients and residents.

• Willingness to learn new ideas, programs, and skills.

• Positive attitude and a good sense of humor.

• Ability to work effectively with NHC partners, families, patients, residents, and members of the community.

• Patience, strong organizational skills, dependability, and attention to detail.

• Professional appearance and strong communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to work an every-other-weekend schedule.
