Safety Coordinator
The Safety Coordinator supports a safe, compliant, and proactive safety culture across concrete block manufacturing plants, ready-mix operations, maintenance shops, and transportation activities.
This role partners with operations leadership, drivers, production teams, and maintenance personnel to reduce risk, strengthen compliance, deliver training, and improve overall safety performance.
This position requires frequent location visits to production, retail, and ready-mix facilities to observe operations, engage employees, support safety initiatives, and verify compliance expectations in the field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Conduct safety inspections and audits across manufacturing, ready-mix, shop, and yard operations.Monitor compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and safe work procedures, including hazard communication, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, and respiratory protection.Identify hazards involving silica, cement dust, confined spaces, elevated work, and material handling, and help implement corrective actions.Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events and support root cause analysis and follow-up actions.Coordinate safety orientation, refresher training, toolbox talks, and job-specific safety instruction.Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, SDS files, and corrective action tracking.Support driver safety by reviewing dash camera footage, maintaining company safe driving practices and records, and promoting safe behaviors and employee engagement throughout the operation.Support environmental compliance activities for production and ready-mix plants, including stormwater management, air permit requirements, inspections, documentation, and corrective action follow-up.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Education, experience, and skills: 2+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, construction materials, ready-mix, transportation, or a similar industrial environment preferred.Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety inspections, training, and incident investigation.Strong communication, organization, documentation, and follow-up skills.Valid drivers license required; OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, CHST, ASP, or similar certifications are a plus.
Physical, mental and environmental requirements: This position works in plants, yards, shops, and outdoor environments and may require walking uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, wearing PPE, and working around heavy equipment, industrial machinery, trucks, dust, and noise.
