INVISTA's Victoria, Texas, Maintenance team is seeking a Machinist to support precision machining for rotating and fixed equipment.
In this role, you will support precision machining, leveraging manual machining skills while contributing to the shop's continued growth in computer numerical control (CNC) machining.
Our Team
This role is part of our Shops & Services organization which includes machine shop, welding shop, relief valve shop, and control valve shop operations.
Team members work closely together to provide repair, maintenance, and fabrication services for plant equipment and components.
The work environment is highly collaborative and requires individuals who can work independently, contribute to team-based maintenance activities, and adapt to changing business needs.
While most work is performed in the shop, occasional field support may be required.
What You Will Do
* Operate manual lathes and mills, as well as CNC machining equipment, to achieve required precision tolerances.
* Machine, inspect, measure, repair, and manufacture components for rotating and fixed equipment, including reverse engineering parts when drawings are unavailable.
* Perform field machining on equipment such as heads, flanges, and equipment bases.
* Read and apply blueprints, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guidance, drawings, and assembly tolerances.
* Use precision measuring tools and computer-aided design (CAD) tools to inspect components and document or update reverse-engineering drawings.
* Support estimating, planning, materials, scheduling, work-order documentation, and customer communication.
* Proactively identify improvements to the work backlog, shop processes, practices, tooling, and procedures.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Experience operating manual lathes and mills.
* Experience using precision measuring tools and holding tight tolerances.
* Experience reading and following blueprints.
* Experience reproducing a part without a drawing through reverse engineering.
* Experience using computer technology in a machining or industrial work environment.
Physical Requirements
* Availability to work scheduled or unscheduled hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
Extended turnaround schedules may be required.
* Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, flame-resistant clothing, gloves, and safety boots, in accordance with the job safety analysis for the task.
* Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.
* Ability to work in hot, cold, and inclement conditions.
* Ability to climb stairs, ladders, vessel or column ladders, and ladders associated with scaffolds.
