Position Highlights
UW Health in northern Illinois is seeking a BE/BC Neurologist to join our growing neurology team as a neurohospitalist.

This is an exciting opportunity for a physician who enjoys the complexity and variety of inpatient neurology and wants a practice focused exclusively on hospital-based care.

The neurohospitalist will provide comprehensive inpatient neurological care, including consultation services, daily management of neurology inpatients and coordination of care across our 350-bed SwedishAmerican Hospital.

This role offers a 7-on/7-off schedule, providing dedicated time away from the hospital while maintaining continuity of care during your assigned week.

Position highlights include:
• Dedicated inpatient neurology practice with no outpatient clinic responsibilities
• 7-on/7-off schedule shared between two Neurology Hospitalists
• Daily inpatient rounding and comprehensive neurology consultation services
• Opportunity to care for a broad range of acute and complex neurological conditions
• Collaboration with hospitalists, intensivists, nursing teams and other specialists
• Strong focus on continuity and coordination of care throughout the hospitalization
• After completion of daily onsite responsibilities, remote pager call from home for ongoing consultations, urgent issues and patient care needs
• Opportunity to participate in the continued growth and development of the inpatient neurology program
• Access to the resources and subspecialty expertise of a large, integrated health system

Responsibilities
• Provide inpatient neurology consultation services for hospitalized patients as requested by admitting providers
• Conduct daily rounds on assigned neurology inpatients and develop comprehensive treatment plans
• Evaluate and manage patients with acute and complex neurological conditions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans and prognosis
• Coordinate care transitions, including discharge planning and appropriate outpatient follow-up
• Complete timely and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record

Education
• MD or DO - Required
• Successful completion of an accredited Neurology residency program in the United States - Required

License/Certifications
• Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Neurology - Required
• Active Illinois medical license or eligibility for Illinois medical licensure - Required
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain prior to or upon hire - Required

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in an inpatient or hospital-based neurology setting
• Experience with stroke care and acute neurological emergencies
• Fellowship training or specialized expertise in an area of inpatient neurology is welcomed
