Actuarial Associate, E&S Casualty

The Excess and Surplus Lines unit is looking for an Actuarial Associate to contribute their casualty pricing knowledge and experience in Verisk's product suite supporting non-admitted/E&S casualty lines of business.

The Actuarial Associate will join our growing actuarial team and be responsible for supporting our development of innovative actuarial product solutions to help the industry better price and manage non-admitted risks in the casualty market.

In this role, you will bring your technical expertise and industry experience to bear onto some of the most challenging, unconventional, and complex risks and problems in the casualty market.

Working in a space of ambiguity and uncertainty, you will be able to apply your actuarial creativity in a fast-moving segment not subject to standard rate and form requirements and build solutions for a rapidly evolving industry segment with significant growth potential.

Your work will have a direct impact on Verisk's strategic vision to provide data-driven analytical solutions to the E&S industry.

This position is hybrid from the Jersey City, NJ office or remote from elsewhere in the Eastern time zone.

We are open to Central or Mountain time zones for the right candidate.



* Develop creative actuarial solutions for complex risks and problems that don't fit the traditional admitted market framework.


* Navigate and synthesize disparate data sources of varying granularity and complexity typical of the E&S casualty space.


* Provide actuarial expertise to support the buildout of data intake processes for contributory E&S premium, loss, and exposure casualty data, and translate data into actionable actuarial and underwriting insights and analytics.


* Analyze contributory, proprietary and other third-party data to support the development of casualty analytics and pricing solutions for E&S customers.


* Solve technical client problems with minimal guidance, including working directly with client data and actuarial teams.


* Collaborate with Verisk E&S team colleagues and other Verisk cross-functional teams to deliver solutions to customers.

Liaise closely with other business units and experts across Verisk, including data operations, analytics, and casualty lines actuarial.


* Own workstreams end-to-end, from problem definition and data discovery through analysis, stakeholder alignment, implementation support, and delivery of client solutions.


* Proactively identify roadblocks, drive next steps, and move ambiguous or undefined processes toward scalable, repeatable solutions.


* Assist in other relevant customer- and market-facing projects and engagements.



* Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related majors.


* At least 4 - 6 years of actuarial experience with a focus on E&S casualty pricing required.


* Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) preferred.
