Adaptive Sports Coordinator

Position Summary: Develop, organize, and implement high quality YMCA Adaptive Sports programs for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with an initial focus on developing and launching adaptive basketball programming.

Working directly in programs as needed, creating a safe, positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures.

This role is part-time, approximately 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling based on program needs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities: Manage, direct and coordinate assigned adaptive sports programsDevelop and launch adaptive basketball programming, including program structure, participant recruitment, staffing and volunteer needs, equipment, scheduling, registration, and program deliveryRecruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as neededReview and evaluate staff performance, develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goalsEnsure program operates within budget and that program fees are collectedAssure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areasEnsure YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followedProvide for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipmentMaintain relationships with participants, families/caregivers, and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programsMaintain proper records/department filesOrganize special events for participantsAssist in YMCA fund raising activitiesAssist with Program Committee meetingsAssist in the marketing and distribution of program informationCompile program statisticsMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programAdapt program activities and delivery as appropriate to support participant needs, abilities, engagement, and successProvide administrative and operational support to other adaptive programs as neededPerforms other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum age 18One year or more experience as a coordinator or supervisor of programsTwo years or more experience working with youth and/or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesExperience with adaptive recreation, sports, or inclusive programming preferredBasic computer skills/knowledge requiredFluency in second language preferred Y Culture: Build relationships with a diverse membership base in culturally responsive ways, connect members with one another and to the YMCAExhibit Caring, Honesty, Respect and ResponsibilityComplete required training and certifications within established guidelinesArrive on time ready for shift, clock in/out within timekeeping system Embrace Team Leader Core Competencies: Mission Advancement: Models and teaches the Ys valuesEnsures a high level of service with a commitment to improving livesProvides volunteers with orientation, training, development, and recognitionCultivates relationships to support fundraising Collaboration: Champions inclu...
