Machinist
This position performs a variety of skilled or semiskilled physical tasks within machinist activities.
Work is mostly supervised and fits a pattern that has been established and explained before work is started.
Work may be observed and reviewed both during its performance and upon completion.
Under this concept, the difficulty and variety of work increases.
Employees may be assigned to the next class of machinist based on ones ability and a position becoming vacant.
There is no supervision over others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Under guidance of supervisor operates a variety of manual equipment Operates the centerless grinder, cylindrical grinder, milling machine and support equipment.
Set up and operates surface grinder for all grinding operations.
Operate the core drill.
Complete basic set-ups for the equipment listed above.
Operate the waxing oven Operate the Bridgeport Under guidance of supervisor does layout work and dresses all wheels for grinder with required forms.
Use fixtures for grinding.
Grinds and squares up parts and grinds all parts to designated lengths.
Grinds most forms required, maintaining tolerances specified on prints.
Using cut-off wheel, slices parts to specified tolerances.
Checks all work using Micrometers, Vernier, gauging devices, indicator and surface plate maintaining tolerances specified.
Accurately records all information.
Performs routine maintenance and keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Responsible for all tools and fixtures used in work area.
Performs all ancillary duties.
Observes all health and safety regulations.

Must have machinists tools.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Must be able to read and verbally converse in the English language.
Must be able to read basic blueprints.
Must have 1-2 years' experience MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
