Let's build something great together! The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing heavy construction equipment used in site development and civil construction operations.

This position performs field repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, compact track loaders, motor graders, rollers, articulated dump trucks, service trucks, and support equipment.

The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic works independently with minimal supervision and is responsible for troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, drivetrain, and engine-related issues to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production schedules.

This position serves as a critical resource to field operations by ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction equipment in field and jobsite environments.

Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on construction equipment and support vehicles.

Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational deficiencies.

Repair and replace engines, hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, drivetrains, undercarriages, braking systems, and other components.

Diagnose equipment issues using manufacturer diagnostic software, electronic testing equipment, and troubleshooting tools.

Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor structural repairs as needed.

Respond to service calls and equipment breakdowns in the field.

Maintain service records, repair reports, inspection forms, and maintenance documentation.

Coordinate repair priorities with Superintendents, Foremen, Equipment Managers, and Operations personnel.
