Library Manager
The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Library Manager.
The Library Manager provides leadership and supervision of assigned library staff, shares responsibility for creating and maintaining a positive, supportive, and collaborative team culture, and is responsible for overseeing day-to-day library operations, the facility, and the physical and digital collections.
This position serves as the Library Directors designee when needed, including representing the Library at City Council meetings and overseeing the Library System in the Library Directors absence.
Key responsibilities include supervising, supporting, and developing library staff; managing the Librarys passport program; collecting, analyzing, and reporting library statistics; and reviewing, developing, and implementing policies and procedures.
The Library Manager also provides exceptional customer service by responding to customer questions and concerns, assisting with digital devices and resources, promoting library materials, services, and programs, and consistently applying the City of Tolleson Core Values.
Additional responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance, safety, security, and effective operation of the library facility; identifying operational needs and recommending improvements related to space, equipment, staffing, training, workflows, and service delivery; serving on standing and ad hoc committees; and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelors degree and five (5) years experience in library work, which includes one year of experience performing the full range of advanced, professional or administrative library work and two years of supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
A Master's Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution is strongly preferred.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including assigned closing shifts and rotating Saturdays.
This position provides support to frontline staff and is expected to assist with public service operations and fill staffing gaps as needed.
Some holidays may be required to support special programming and/or City events.
Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License with acceptable driving record and have the ability to operate City vehicles safely.
