We are looking for an experienced Power Plant Superintendent to lead the safe and reliable operation of the electrical power systems that support one of the world's most efficient aluminum smelters.

This is a critical leadership role where you will combine technical expertise, operational excellence, and people leadership to ensure the continued success of our operations.

About the role:

As a Power Plant Superintendent, you will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Alcoa Fjardaál's electrical utility systems.

You will play a key role in maintaining electrical safety, ensuring system reliability, supporting strategic infrastructure planning, and developing a team of highly skilled technicians.

Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will help drive world-class safety and operational performance while supporting Alcoa's commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:


* Lead the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the site's electrical utility and high-voltage systems.


* Champion electrical safety and ensure compliance with Alcoa's global standards and Icelandic regulations.


* Develop and execute operational and maintenance plans that support reliable power supply to the smelter.


* Provide technical leadership and professional guidance to electricians and technicians.


* Support and develop team members through coaching, training, performance feedback, and talent development.


* Manage maintenance projects and prioritize resources to maximize equipment reliability.


* Monitor budgets and cost performance while identifying opportunities for improvement.


* Collaborate with key external stakeholders, including Landsvirkjun, Landsnet, and regulatory authorities.


* Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives within your area of responsibility.

What You Bring to the role:

Required Qualifications:


* Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) or higher in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology from an accredited institution.


* Specialization in power systems, high-voltage electrical infrastructure, or related disciplines.

Experience:


* Minimum of three years of professional experience following university graduation.


* At least two years of experience related to the design, installation, operation, or maintenance of high-voltage electrical systems.
