Maintenance Tech 2 - 2nd Shift
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Follow LOTO, PPE, machine guarding, and confined space rules as applicable.
Electrical safety awareness; apply NFPA 70E approach boundaries and arc-flash labels (voltage testing only within authorization).
Use CMMS for work orders, parts, and documentation; maintain accurate as-found/as-left notes.
Keep schematics, SDS, and OEM manuals current; escalate code/permit questions to EHS/Facilities.
Has extensive knowledge in preventive maintenance systems and proven repair processes for equipment used in manufacturing and assembly processes.
Able to conduct required repairs on production machines.
Hands-on machine repair experience preferred.
Trouble shoots and repairs mechanical machine problems.
Observes machines in operation and uses diagnostic skills to locate and make repairs.
Conduct equipment repairs in a timely manner in order to maintain operation efficiency.
Makes minor electrical repairs to machines and equipment and adjusts parts and instrument controls.
Replace faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and sensing devices.
Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components for machines and equipment.
Lubricates and cleans parts and cleans around work areas.
Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
Moves and installs machines and related equipment and maintains building systems as required.
Follows and adheres to company safety policies and practices and maintains good housekeeping.
Other duties may be assigned.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Wear safety eye glasses and steel-toed shoes.
Uses hearing protection, as needed and follows proper lifting techniques.
Participates in hazard communication training and is knowledgeable of plant emergency procedures.
Has an industrial truck operator license for motorized pallet jack and forklift.
Can perform daily sling and hoist inspection.
QUALIFICATIONS
Electrical troubleshooting to device level: trace circuits from mains to VFD/motor; replace contactors, overloads, power supplies.
PLC/HMI basics: navigate ladder logic online (read-only), force I/O when authorized, back up/upload programs under established SOPs.
Sensors & I/O: diagnose and replace proximity/limit switches, encoders, photoeyes; scale 4-20 mA/0-10 V signals.
Drives & motors: parameter check and basic tuning on VFDs (accel/decel, current limits); megger motors when permitted.
Pneumatics/hydraulics: identify valves, regulators, FRLs; fix common leaks, replace seals/hoses, set pressures to spec.
Machine tool subsystems: coolant pumps, chip conveyors, mist collectors, lube systems-diagnose power/control faults.
Facilities: air compressor/dryer routine service, HVAC filter changes, lighting circuits (ballasts/LED drivers).
Fire/life safety: monthly extinguisher checks, eyewash/shower flush logs, assist with fire alarm panel testing coordination.
