LPN / RN – School Pediatric Individual Care Nurse

Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas  |  2026–2027 School Year

$32.50 – $42.00 per hour

Monday – Friday, school days only

Off holidays, weekends, and every school break.

This position offers a consistent weekday schedule aligned to the school calendar, 

with no nights, weekends, or holiday shifts required.

Position Overview

You will care for one child in a one-to-one assignment.

Depending on the assignment, you will either ride with your student on school-provided transportation or meet your student at school.

Same child, same school, every day.

The continuity of this model allows you to build a working relationship with your student, their family, and the school team.

Nurses do not transport students.

The school system provides bus or van transportation.

You are never responsible for driving a student in your own vehicle.

Care is guided by the child's individual care plan and may include:


* Tracheostomy care


* G-tube feeding


* Seizure monitoring


* Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)

Qualifications



* Licensure: Active, unencumbered North Carolina LPN or RN license, or a multistate (compact) license with North Carolina as your primary state of residence


* LPN: One year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years — direct patient care with transferable clinical skills (pediatrics, home care, long-term care, acute care, or private duty nursing)


* RN: One year of related RN experience within the last 3 years, or one year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years


* CPR: Current certification from an in-person course (online-only certifications are not accepted)


* Higher acuity assignments: 6 months of relevant experience plus completion of online assessments

Newly licensed RN with prior LPN experience? If you recently passed your NCLEX-RN after practicing as an LPN, your prior LPN experience may satisfy the experience requirement for this position.

Additional Requirements

All candidates must successfully complete the following prior to assignment:


* Criminal background check and drug screening


* Health screening and tuberculosis testing in accordance with agency and school district requirements


* Reference verification and license verification


* Agency orientation and skills competency validation


* Reliable transportation to your assigned school or meeting location

This position requires the ability to lift and reposition pediatric clients, assist with transfers, and remain alert and responsive throughout the assigned shift.
