Sr. Oracle Database Administrator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide insight into the changing database storage, utilization, life-cycle management, and privacy requirements for the company's products to ensure they are aligned with the company's overall technical vision.
- Work strategically with the Development Team and Management to design and implement industry leading solutions.
- Lead and participate in internal meetings to align and collaborate with Developers, communicate vision and objectives, provide progress reports, explain recommendations, and troubleshoot issues.
- Ensure that new technology solutions are designed for optimal access and usefulness, leveraging existing technologies when possible.
- Own responsibility for generating technical specifications to support business requirements while recommending and implementing the best technology solutions to meet those requirements.
- Define monitoring requirements for databases and lead efforts for continual improvements and proactive monitoring.
- Frequently responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees across the organization within area of expertise.

- Provide guidance, coaching, and training to more junior colleagues.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 10+ years of relevant professional experience required.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Work will be remote with the expectation for occasional in-person meetings in Bethesda, MD.
- 10 years of experience in conducting Oracle database administration.
- Extensive experience in administering Oracle database in standalone and multitenant architecture on Windows/Linux/Unix on premises and in cloud environments.
- Extensive experience in Oracle data guard implementation, RMAN backups, export/import, GoldenGate setup and configuration, and job scheduling and monitoring.
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL, performance tuning, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Oracle client.
- Experiences with Oracle version 19c, Oracle on Linux, and MySQL on Ubuntu are preferred.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with federal database security standards spanning NIST 800-53, NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), FedRAMP, FISMA, STIG Hardening, Database Auditing, Zero Trust Architecture, Continuous Monitoring.
- Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, Terraform.
- Database encryption, Identity and Access Management, Vulnerability remediation.
- Experience supporting large enterprise environments.
- Experience with database performance tuning.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery.
- Experience supporting US federal environments.
