International Student Specialist & DSO

Summary/Objective Southwest Baptist University (SBU) is a Christ-centered institution committed to academic excellence, servant leadership, and preparing students for lives of faith, learning, and service.

The International Student Services Specialist & DSO provides regulatory, admissions, enrollment, and ongoing support for prospective and currently enrolled international students.

The position serves as a primary point of contact for international students, maintains required SEVIS records and documentation, supports compliance with F-1 regulations, and connects students with institutional resources that support successful enrollment and degree completion.

Essential Job Duties DSO / SEVIS Compliance · Serve as Designated School Official (DSO).

· Manage SEVIS records and federal compliance.

· Issue and maintain I-20 documentation.

· Monitor visa compliance and reporting requirements.

Admissions and Enrollment Support · Understand the international admissions funnel from inquiry through enrollment.

· Collaborate across campus to achieve enrollment goals.

International Student Support · Serve as point of contact for international students.

· Support onboarding and new student programming.

· Support retention and student success initiatives.

· Attend and host graduate residency weekends, providing on-site student support.

· Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor · Regular attendance and punctuality in this SBU position · Sets an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty · Commitment and adherence to Southwest Baptist University's Principles and Expectations Position RequirementsRequired · Christian worldview consistent with SBU mission and Baptist Faith & Message (2000) · Bachelor's degree required; · U.S.

citizen or permanent resident (required for DSO) · Pass criminal background check · Excellent communication skills across multiple platforms; high attention to detail with FERPA compliance · Ability to work independently and collaboratively; experience with diverse populations preferred · Flexible schedule for international time zones, residency weekends, and compliance deadlines · Professional, adaptable, service-oriented mindset Preferred · Knowledge of F-1 regulations, SEVIS, and immigration compliance preferred · Experience with international admissions, application review, and enrollment management Work Environment Professional office setting with frequent interaction across all levels of the university.

Flexibility is required, as some events occur during evenings or weekends.

Physical Abilities Frequent movement throughout the office and event venues.

Regular communication in verbal and written formats.

Frequent use of computers, office, and event-related equipment.

Must occasionally lift or move items up to 20 lbs.
