Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Chemist- Temporary (3-6 months) to join our Ashland LLC.

business at our Wilmington, Delaware location.

This position will report to material characterization team lead.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


* Follow all safety procedures and always act in a safe manner.


* Independently performing relatively complex routine and non-routine analytical methods, including spectroscopy, microscopy, and chromatography.


* Operate instruments and laboratory equipment following specific methods.


* Complete assigned work in a timely manner and is responsible to record and process data accurately using notebooks and computer software.


* Report results reliably using Excel spreadsheets and a LIMS system.


* Help with lab organization, renovation and lab moves.


* The candidate must have basic understanding of general chemistry and organic chemistry.


* The candidate must have experience in a materials characterization laboratory performing standardized tests, including UV-vis spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, optical microscopy, and size exclusion chromatography.


* The candidate should have an understanding of basic chemical principles and physical properties of polymer materials, good lab skills, neat working habits, and good oral and written communication skills.


* The candidate should be able to learn methods quickly, work independently, and contribute to a team effort.


* The candidate should have experience with Microsoft Office programs and LIMS systems.


* Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety


* Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:


* A Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field


* 1-2 years working in an analytical lab environment


* Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times


* The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different
