Director of Packaging and Cellulose - Paper Technical Center

Your Job

A successful candidate will lead a team of subject matter experts across multiple areas of the paper-making process throughout Georgia Pacific's North American packaging and cellulose facilities.

This role is home-based and requires domestic travel on a regular basis.

Relocation will not be required unless the candidate lives in a remote location, which makes travel to most of our locations difficult.

Our Team

Georgia-Pacific is recruiting for a leadership position to join our Manufacturing Advancement Group (central technical support group) leading the Paper Center of Excellence Team.

What You Will Do


* Application of Principled Base Management (PBM®) philosophy


* Build and develop a results driven team of subject matter experts focused on the following:


* Building relationships with key site personnel


* Providing feedback to key leaders on site level talent capability


* Executing process assessments and supporting the site teams to close gaps


* Accessing technology gaps and supporting sites with strategy development plans including economics


* Supporting sites with immediate issue resolution



* Support the investment strategy development and execution across the packaging and cellulose sites.


* Leverage other support capabilities to achieve results faster and sustain them over time.

An example would be how we leverage our data analytics and remote process engineering teams to identify and close gaps versus our traditional methods.


* Ensure teams are connected to business and asset performance trends and associated value of each to prioritize strategies and actions


* Effectively leverage all available resources (e.g., other capabilities, site personnel, etc.) to achieve positive work-life balance for the team.


* Leverage and encourage the growth of the knowledge networks among the facility paper makers and external SMEs.

Drive best practices and profitable standardization across the group.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing role(s) supporting paper making operations


* A minimum of 10 years of experience effectively leading, communicating with, and mentoring others in a manufacturing environment


* Ability to travel up to 60% of the time (including occasional travel on weekends and holidays)

What Will Put You Ahead


* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science or Technical degree


* Area or Business unit level management experience


* Experience driving results across multiple sites and processes beyond paper


* Experience building and developing teams that drive results across multiple areas or sites

For this role, we anticipate paying $195k - $225k per year.

This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
