Housing Case Manager/Inspector II (Anchorage)

HOUSING CASE MANAGER/INSPECTOR II Position Summary: Primary responsibility is inspecting private market and agency owned housing and secondarily assisting in the management of low-income housing programs to include case management.

This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by ensuring access to essential housing resources for those in need.

Reports to: Program/Regional Manager or Designee OVERVIEW This position is part of a dynamic team committed to providing Alaskans access to safe, quality, affordable housing.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills to assess affordable housing programs related to the Housing Choice Voucher program standards and effectively prioritize tasks.

As a case manager, exceptional listening and communication skills are essential, as the role involves engaging with clients from diverse social economic backgrounds on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate must be able to think independently, assess family situations within the confines of highly regulated housing programs, convey accurate housing program information, and maintain the utmost professionalism when communicating both favorable and unfavorable messages.

The incumbents primary responsibility during the workday is to perform programmatically required housing inspections and related tasks pertinent to that responsibility.

Secondary responsibilities is focused on case management (approximately 60 to 150+/- assigned cases).

As the organization drive digital automation continues, this position must be adept at effectively utilizing housing management software to maintain accurate client records.

This position demonstrates extensive knowledge of housing inspection standards and increased independence in performance of duties through knowledge gained as a Housing Case Manager I or similar experience.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Non-exempt, non-supervisory EXAMPLES OF DUTIES This position is primarily responsible for conducting housing unit inspections in accordance with federal and state regulations.

In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for daily client case management within the Housing Choice Voucher housing assistance program for a small case load (roughly 60 to 150 +/- assigned cases) and must be able to successfully work with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1.

Housing Unit Inspections: a.

Conduct and document housing unit inspections of private and agency owned units; b.

Review and approve client packages for inspection; c.

Preparing annual, complaint, and initial move-in inspection packages; d.

Assist in the maintaining a comprehensive inspection schedule; e.

Collect data on private, unassisted units to maintain a database of comparable units; and f.

Determine rent reasonableness for units.
