Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Position Summary The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, documenting, storing, and shipping products and materials to support efficient warehouse operations.

This position ensures all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed accurately, properly documented, safely handled, and compliant with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, and other supporting documentation.Inspect shipments for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and promptly report issues to appropriate personnel.Unload, sort, label, and store materials in designated locations to support inventory accuracy and efficient product retrieval.Prepare, package, and process outgoing shipments in accordance with company procedures, carrier requirements, and customer specifications.Generate, review, and maintain shipping and receiving records, including packing lists, bills of lading, receiving reports, and shipment logs.Utilize inventory management systems and related software to track product movement and maintain accurate warehouse records.Conduct routine inventory counts and assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, audits, and discrepancy reconciliation.Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, when properly trained and authorized.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following housekeeping standards and safety procedures.Coordinate with vendors, carriers, drivers, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate receipt and shipment of goods.Comply with all company policies, safety requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Perform other warehouse, logistics, and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED.Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and inventory management systems.Ability to read, understand, and follow purchase orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and written instructions.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in recordkeeping.Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Preferred Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or a related field.Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification within a designated timeframe.

Physical Requirements Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods.Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, moderate noise levels, and regular shipping and receiving activity.Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
