Clinical Assistant

The Clinical Assistant will work closely with the clinic team to ensure efficient patient flow, provide support to medical staff, and assist patients with a variety of needs in a patient-focused environment.

This role includes preparing patient records, rooming patients, taking vital signs, updating medical histories, maintaining clinic flow, and providing assistance during medical procedures.

Clinical Assistants may be cross trained in multiple clinic areas to assist with diverse responsibilities.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Calls patients from the waiting area in a timely and pleasant manner and escorts them to exam rooms, as clinic flow permits.Obtains and inputs vital signs into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).Updates patient records with current medications and other relevant health information, supporting the clinic teams needs for patient examination.Pre-loads patient records with all pertinent information, including outside records, to assist in a timely and well-prepared visit with the Physician and clinical care team.Communicates patient information between the physician and clinical teams to ensure smooth coordination of care.Assists patients with basic needs, including rooming, preparing for exams, and supporting any procedures as needed.Assists clinical staff during patient visits, including, where applicable, venipuncture or other specialty-specific tasks once trained.Discharges patients after their examination, ensuring they have the necessary follow-up appointments scheduled.Sets up equipment and maintains infection control standards, including cleaning exam rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits.Restocks exam rooms and notifies the appropriate personnel if supplies need to be ordered.Schedules patient appointments as needed, ensuring efficient clinic flow and timely patient care.Participates in continuing education and training to support clinical duties and meet clinic needs.Monitors waiting areas and assists patients as needed.Maintains a clean, safe, and organized environment for both patients and staff.Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor based on the assigned clinical area or team.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: Travel to CARTI Cancer Center and Clinic locations outside of Little Rock as required.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION: High school diploma or equivalentBLS CertificationMedical Assistant or CNA certification preferredComplete required CARTI competency checks for patient assessment, venipuncture and port access, as needed.
