Shipping & Recieving/Material Handler

Position Summary The Shipping & Receiving / Material Handler Specialist supports daily warehouse operations by processing shipments, coordinating will-call pickups, stocking materials for production, putting away incoming parts, assisting with inventory, disposing of packaging materials, and completing other assigned warehouse duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process outgoing shipments using carrier systems, including UPS, FedEx, and Maersk.

Move freight, inventory, and other materials between storage areas, production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers.

Load and unload materials manually or by using hand trucks, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.

Verify incoming materials against packing slips for the correct item, quantity, and quality.

Report discrepancies involving inbound materials to the supervisor, manager, and Purchasing Department.

Work with material handlers, the Junior Inventory Coordinator, and the supervisor to ensure products are stored neatly in their proper locations.

Notify designated employees or departments about received materials, loaded items, or problems encountered.

Follow first-in, first-out inventory practices when placing deliveries in their designated locations.

Collaborate with employees and managers to resolve work-related problems.

Load and unload containers at off-site locations as needed.

Provide professional customer service to customers, suppliers, and carriers.

Perform inventory counts and assist with year-end physical inventory.

Complete receiving duties and properly document operational or production information.

Dispose of cardboard boxes and empty designated trash bins.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Monitor safety procedures and equipment.

Secure cargo and prepare materials or products for shipment.

Operate packing and material-processing equipment.

Maintain material-handling equipment in good working condition.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to ship and receive materials accurately.

Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Ability to review work orders, schedules, packing slips, and instructions.

Ability to sort, identify, label, package, load, and transport materials.

Ability to operate forklifts, hoists, cranes, and other lifting or material-handling equipment, as required.

Ability to recognize and resolve problems using sound judgment and diplomacy.

Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships.

Ability to provide clear information to supervisors, coworkers, customers, suppliers, and carriers.

Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required.

Two to three years of warehouse experience preferred.

Communication and Reasoning Skills Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, packing slips, and work-related documents.
