The Bedford County Sheriff's Office compensates current Virginia DCJS certified law enforcement officers for up to 5 years of experience when determining their starting salary.

Exclusions include jail officers, courtroom security officers, sworn security officers, and any other sworn officer that has not conducted policing similar to the responsibilities of a Bedford County Sheriff's Deputy.

Incentives to join Bedford County Sheriff's Office include: All Deputy Sheriff's receive a take home vehicle if their residence is located within 5 air miles of Bedford County.80 hours of sick time and 80 hours of vacation time awarded upon hire.County gym access and gym membership stipend offered.County tuition assistance program.Overtime pay is provided in lieu of compensatory time.

Opportunities for overtime or extra duties pay at $45 per hour include lake patrol, community events, football games, extra patrol shifts, DMV grants, church security, inmate work detail and more.
