Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Manager

Alaska Marine Trucking is seeking a Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) Manager to join our team and lead HSSE programs across our Alaska operations.

This role works closely with employees, supervisors, and leadership to support safe and efficient operations, maintain regulatory compliance, improve training and risk controls, investigate incidents, and manage environmental and transportation safety programs.

We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with operations, translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions, take ownership of issues, and follow them through to completion.

Who We Are

Alaska Marine Trucking provides and manages local freight distribution services throughout Alaska, including barge loading and unloading, warehousing, container load and less-than-container-load pickup and delivery.

We work closely with Alaska Marine Lines and other Lynden companies to serve communities throughout Southeast, Central, and Western Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing



* Lead and support Alaska Marine Trucking’s health, safety, security, and environmental programs across Alaska operations.


* Serve as a primary resource for employees, supervisors, and leadership on HSSE requirements, risks, and regulatory compliance.


* Maintain awareness of applicable OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, USCG, EPA, ADEC, and other federal, state, and local requirements and coordinate with regulatory agencies when necessary.


* Work with operations to implement policies, regulatory requirements, customer requirements, and practical risk-reduction measures.


* Maintain HSSE policies, procedures, records, training documentation, driver qualification information, and other required compliance records.


* Develop, coordinate, and deliver employee safety and regulatory training, including training provided through Dayforce Learning and outside resources.


* Manages the Safe Driver Program, driver safety initiatives, and new-driver training and orientation.


* Support DOT and FMCSA compliance programs, including driver qualification, drug and alcohol testing, Clearinghouse requirements, regulatory registrations, safety performance monitoring, and required reporting.


* Maintain and support environmental programs, permits, plans, inspections, and reporting, including SWPPP, SPCC, Tier II, spill reporting, and related EPA and ADEC requirements.


* Maintain required OSHA injury and illness records and coordinate required regulatory notifications and reporting.


* Conduct facility and field inspections at terminals, warehouses, yards, docks, and other Alaska Marine Trucking locations and work with operations to correct identified hazards.


* Participate in job safety analyses, process reviews, operational risk assessments, and the development of safer and more efficient work practices.
