Student Worker-Teacher Assistant

General Job Brief: Academic teaching assistants (TAs) serve ACU by assisting professors with grading and administrative duties in their classes.

TAs may be required to attend class sessions, work on grading and other duties as assigned by the professor or run tutoring/student support sessions outside of class time.

TAs are responsible for keeping student grades confidential and for abiding by FERPA policies.

This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.

Primary Duties: Attend all class meetings as required by professorProvide subject-specific expertise to students enrolled in the course(s) for which you TA.

This may include providing one-on-one or group support.Work in Canvas, Populi, and other class-related platformsRecognize the different learning styles and student preferencesHelp professors with grading and administrative duties as assignedFollow FERPA policies and keep student grades and academic progress confidential Be direct and kind with students and possess good interpersonal communication skills Other Duties and Responsibilities: Communicate regularly with the professor for whom you TAInput time worked into Paycom for compensation purposesConduct oneself with utmost integrity and professionalismCompleting other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed, and not necessarily mentioned in this description, will be expected.Commitment to the Universitys faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.

Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.Demonstrated alignment with and enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually.

Qualifications: A personal relationship with Jesus Christ as well as a commitment to ACU's Statement of Faith and Core valuesMust be currently enrolled as a student at ACU.Have received an A in a course taught by the professor you are assistingPossess good interpersonal communication skillsAvailable to work up to ten hours per weekCurrent student of ACU in good standing - SAPMust demonstrate financial needMust complete FAFSA Fair Labor Standards Act: This position is part-time, non-exempt for overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
