Dispatcher
SUMMARY: Responsible for taking customer orders, batching concrete, and coordinating the delivery schedules for the company's ready-mixed truck drivers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following responsibilities.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
· Closely monitor cycle times, weather, demand graphs, production, and delivery status, and adjust assignments to insure production and delivery efficiency.
· Schedules and prioritizes loading of ready-mix trucks with customers' orders, gives clear route instructions to drivers, and instructs drivers of delivery requirements and job site conditions.
· Communicate professionally and clearly with drivers, and customers.
· Accurately takes, batches, and schedules customer orders with potential for calculating price quotes.
· Works as needed, including Saturdays, as weather and business conditions may require.
· Effectively coordinates and multi-tasks both office and plant duties as required.
· Acts as a liaison between company and customers to address business concerns, as well as internally to coordinate plant projects.
· Assigns projects to drivers as directed and monitors to assure proper follow up.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Education, experience, and skills: · Requires a high school education or GED with experience in the ready-mix industry preferred.
· Maintaining a Commercial Driver's License and a good driving record is preferred, but not required.
· Preferred knowledge about various specifications for ready mix and related products.
· Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and maintain professionalism.
· Ability to read, write, and accurately perform basic math functions.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· PC operating and related software skills needed.
· Must be able to multitask and work under close time frames and remain calm under stressful situations.
· Strong organizational skills are also needed to coordinate delivery schedules, dispatching of equipment for product deliveries, and maintaining efficient operating records.
· Must be Iowa DOT certified in Aggregate Technician, PCC Basic Tester Level 1 PCC, and Level 2 PCC (or ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification) - Withing one year of hire.
Physical, mental, and environmental requirements: This is a high energy and mentally demanding position.
Daily problem solving is needed using specifications and interpersonal skills.
Good vision and hearing are required to communicate with a variety of employees, customers, contractors, and other staff.
Must be able to distinguish colors, size and other elements concerning the Company's products and materials.
Some occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds may be required along with regular standing, walking, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping of objects.
