Automation Technician Intern
Job Summary The Operations & Automation Intern will support both automation and logistics functions within the Operations Department.
This position offers hands-on experience in control panel assembly, electrical systems, inventory management, shipping and receiving, and warehouse operations.
The intern will work alongside experienced team members to develop technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills while gaining exposure to industrial automation and supply chain processes.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities Automation Support Assist with wiring and assembly of industrial control panels.
Learn to read and interpret electrical and electromechanical drawings.
Support panel testing using multimeters and basic testing equipment.
Assist with light fabrication tasks, including measuring, cutting, and preparing materials.
Learn basic PLC and automation system concepts.
Maintain organized workstations and assist with quality inspections.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Shipping & Receiving Support Assist with receiving, inspecting, and verifying incoming shipments.
Help package and prepare products for shipment.
Generate and organize shipping documents, labels, and packing slips.
Assist with inventory tracking, cycle counts, and inventory audits.
Maintain organized warehouse storage areas.
Coordinate shipment status updates and communicate discrepancies to supervisors.
Support compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
General Operations Support Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and company standards.
Support team projects and other operational activities as assigned.
Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
Education and Experience Required High school diploma, GED, current student, or recent graduate.
Interest in automation, manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, instrumentation, or industrial operations.
Preferred Enrollment in a technical program, trade school, community college, or university related to: Instrumentation Electrical Technology Mechatronics Industrial Maintenance Supply Chain Management Logistics Business Operations Prior coursework, projects, or part-time experience in manufacturing, warehousing, electrical systems, or technical fields is a plus but not required.
[ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to read measurements and follow written instructions.
Willingness to learn electrical, automation, inventory, and logistics processes.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
