The Surveyor is responsible for performing land, construction, and site surveys to support project planning, design, and execution.
This position collects and analyzes field data, establishes property and construction boundaries, verifies elevations and grades, and ensures project work is completed in accordance with engineering plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct land, boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
* Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including GPS systems, total stations, levels, and data collectors.
* Establish and verify control points, benchmarks, and project layouts.
* Collect field data and measurements for construction, excavation, grading, and site development projects.
* Prepare survey reports, field notes, sketches, and documentation.
* Review engineering drawings, maps, plans, and legal descriptions.
* Calculate elevations, coordinates, distances, and angles using surveying software and equipment.
* Verify construction work for compliance with project specifications and design plans.
* Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and field personnel.
* Ensure all surveying activities comply with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
* Assist with resolving boundary, staking, and layout discrepancies.
* Maintain accurate records of survey data and project documentation.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
* Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
* Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
* Knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and industry standards.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and maps.
* Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
Work Requirements
* Must be 18 years of age or older.
* Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
* Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
