Michael Baker International's Public Works/Transportation Team in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a motivated and career-driven Civil Associate I to join our growing practice.

Our team partners with municipalities and county agencies throughout Southern California, delivering innovative solutions in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, active transportation, complete streets, and a wide range of public works projects that enhance communities and improve mobility.

What You'll Do:


* Partner with a team of engineers to deliver transportation engineering, public works and site development projects for municipal and county clients.


* Contribute to the planning and design of roadway improvements, ADA accessibility enhancements, drainage systems, water quality features, and other infrastructure projects.


* Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, including engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and bid documents.


* Support geometric roadway design, Civil 3D modeling, and other engineering analyses throughout project development.


* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.


* Participate in client meetings and project discussions, helping to coordinate solutions and communicate project progress.


* Provide technical support to municipal agency clients and, at times, serve as an extension of agency staff.


* Conduct occasional field visits to gather information, observe site conditions, and support project development.


* Build your technical expertise through mentorship, professional development opportunities, training programs, industry seminars, and professional organizations.


* Perform other duties as assigned in support of project and team objectives.

What You Need to Succeed:


* Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with coursework or experience related to Public Works and/or Transportation Engineering. 


* Minimum of 1 year of relevant engineering experience.


* EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.


* Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office; experience with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and Microsoft is highly desirable.
