Administrative Assistant II - Confidential HR

Internal Close Date: August 25, 2026 Grade Level: N-1 Salary:$26.69 - $37.36 per hour Note: Starting pay rates are ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.

New employees typically start in the lower half of range, but experts in their field may be considered for starting pay rates in the top half of the range.

Department/Location: Human Resources / 1001 Washington Ave N Summary The primary purpose of this position is to provide skilled administrative support and customer service for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department.

All activities must support the Minneapolis Public Housing Authoritys (MPHA or Authority) mission, vision, and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work.

Other responsibilities, duties, and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.

Monitors and triages multiple communication channels for the Human Resources department, including in-person, postage & interoffice mail, phone, email, and Microsoft Teams, and more.Coordinates the administrative steps related to MPHA training and events, including invitations, reminders, fliers, certificate distribution, and certificate retention.As assigned, responds to data requests for information from law firms, other departments, and MPHAs General Counsel, relative to research, data collection, and report preparations concerning lawsuits, information requests, etc.Assists with the administrative coordination of MPHA employee clinics.Assists with compliance projects, EEO-4 Report, Pay Equity Report, Annual Compliance Report, HR related surveys, etc.

Performs a variety of HRIS administrative duties by entering status change events into employee records, such as transfers, promotions, and other personnel actions.Participates as needed in the recruitment and onboarding process, including employment verifications, background screenings, application review, personnel file creation, and other tasks as assigned.Maintain and update the Employee Portal information to ensure content, resources, and employee-facing details remain accurate, current, and accessible.

Manage and maintain the Human Resources suite, ensuring the space is organized, professional, adequately supplied, and prepared for employees, visitors, and HR related meetings and activities.

Acts as backup to the Recruiter, providing coverage for vacations, leaves of absence, etc.Assists with the coordination of temporary employeesAssists with the coordination of the Urban Scholar ProgramAssists with New Employee OrientationPrepares and prints new employee orientation documents and badges.

Assigns required training.Assists with preparation for collective bargaining negotiations.Reviews monthly updates, new hires, and anniversaries for the Human Resources section of the Employee Newsletter.Assists with employee badge creation, troubleshooting, etc...
