Development Officer
JOB SUMMARY Under the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Development Officer will primarily be focused on generating revenue through developing and cultivating relationships with donors and corporate and community partners, all to help MCHS Family of Services achieve optimal fund development operations and positioning of the organization.
The person in this position will be comfortable working with all levels of internal management, staff, partners and vendors.
II.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Achieve assigned revenue goal by maintaining existing relationships and developing new relationships with corporate and community partners, as well as individual donors.
Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with donors, corporations, and key community partners through year-round business and cultivation plans.
Prospect and secure new corporate sponsorships, foundation gifts, and individual donors.
Engage individual donors in Planned Giving opportunities and larger more impactful gifts.
Recruit volunteer leaders for opportunities in MCHS committees and in-kind program opportunities.
Support MCHS events such as gala or curated donor events through fundraising efforts.
Identify opportunities for our corporate partners and individual donors to make an impact through MCHS programs and events.
Monitor fundraising trends and implement proven strategies to improve campaign outcomes.
Collaborate with other MCHS staff, including but not limited to, Marketing, MCHS programs, and operations staff.
Represent the agency to outside groups and organizations, including business, community, and media events.
Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHSs mission and vision.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CDO.
III.
BASIC COMPETENCIES Education and Experience The Development Officer will be an experienced professional with an array of nonprofit experience, primarily in fundraising, development, and community engagement.
The Development Officer will be outgoing and motivated to engage the community and extend MCHSs mission and vision to donors, volunteers, community partners, and other key stakeholders.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and at least three (3) years of experience in fundraising/development, or Masters degree from an accredited college or university preferred with at least three (3) years of experience in fundraising and/or development.
Must meet the States Moral Character standard.
Knowledge Requirements: Computer and software applications (All MS Office).
Principles and practices of fund development operations and management.
Tactical strategy, planning and organizing.
Skills and Abilities Needed: Demonstrate leadership, drive, and integrity.
Contribute to positive team culture at MCHS.
Motivate, develop, and cultivate community partners and donors.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with agency staff, volunteers, government officials, foundation and corporate executives.
