Your Job

Koch Energy Services, LLC is seeking a Data Scientist to join our Natural Gas trading team! In this role you will partner closely with our market analysts to strengthen KES's analytical capability and data infrastructure - building deep expertise in both our data and our markets, with the goal of growing into a Market Analyst.

Our Team

This role reports to the Vice President of Natural Gas Trading and is based in Houston, TX or Wichita, KS.

What You Will Do



* Data & Analytics Development:



* Build and maintain the data pipelines, datasets, models, and tools that power the desk's fundamental analysis


* Improve the reliability, quality, and accessibility of KES's market data


* Coordinate with IT as needed to deliver analytics solutions

Market Analysis Immersion:


* Work alongside market analysts to deeply learn natural gas fundamentals (supply/demand, weather, flows, storage, LNG) and the pricing mechanisms that drive commercial decisions


* Progressively take on market analysis responsibilities on the path to becoming a Market Analyst

Data Infrastructure:


* Develop a deep understanding of KES's data sources and infrastructure, and identify and implement improvements to data management and tooling

Communication & Collaboration:


* Partner with the commercial team to support daily, weekly, and monthly analysis and reporting

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)



* Experience analyzing data and performing quantitative analysis (professional or academic setting)


* Experience with a programming language such as Python, including basic concepts (sequence of commands, conditional structures, looping structures) (professional or academic setting)


* Experience working with Microsoft Excel (Edit/Create VBA) and databases (professional or academic setting)

What Will Put You Ahead



* Experience with energy or commodity markets


* Interest in and aptitude for a Market Analyst career path


* Experience with data pipelines, AI/ML, or BI/visualization tools


* Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Energy Management, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
